WHAT THE MUSIC VIDEO IS ABOUT:
I feel, 我感到
and wake, 醒來
to find, 發現
no walls, 没有牆
no light, sound, ceiling,
like nothing. 如無物
Looking back, our world is like a reflection in water...
with distorted imagery like barriers...
our glorious sanctuary, now a mirage in the clouds... in the sea... in the air...
in a trance, see again the last radiance of our sanctuary...
Science experiments and inventions like beautiful games that could bring disasters to our world... resulting in death entangling the beautiful...
The sky is changing...變天了
into a mushroom cloud...
The innocent mushroom...
now the symbol of evil.

COMMENTS of "3:10AM" music video
"I felt it was like a dream, one of those dreams which are frightening and you know you are dreaming but you can’t stop it. What a difficult piece of music to play! Congrats to the performers."
⎯ Margaret Morley
"Oh my goodness. Impactful! Death. Was it reflecting your state of mind! "
⎯ Francesca Jaggs
"It fits our times amazingly ! "
⎯ Sally Grove
"Those 'beautiful games that could bring disatser to our world' are where my life is at the moment. So much darkness to fight. But I am looking after my soul... I found the images very Salvator Dali, absurdist and surreal. Such a sparse composition would lend itself to a granular remix."
⎯ Andy Farnell
"I think some of this sense of things ‘going wrong’ has permeated your piece. It’s very powerful. You’ve got some good musicians to work with, maybe you worked closely together, even sparked ideas off each other? But I feel you might not have written some of that unless you were sure they could bring it off properly. And the words and visuals all add to it."
⎯ Derek Forster, composer
"Very edgy! Was that actually all notated like the ending seems to suggest? Sounds improvised. I liked the stencil effect on the city scape."
⎯ Tony Marrison
"Thank you for sending your new video, which is certainly very different from your others. The photographic effects are very clever and the music sounds quite 1970s-ish. Were you studying with James when you wrote it (Janes = James Iliff, our composition professor at the RAM)? I couldn’t tell who was doing the vocal parts – perhaps both of them? It’s an impressive piece of work and I hope it will get a lot of interest."
⎯ Janet Graham, composer and music therapist
"It was interesting to hear '3:10AM' , and yes, it wasn’t easy listening but made me stop and think!"
⎯ Paul Haines
"... Also was engaged with the '3:10 am' and liked the way the water, trees, maze, and finger print blended together. Yes, a truly cataclysmic ending."
⎯ Mike Smith
"I particularly was moved by the '3:10 am' piece - very evocative sounds and the imagery was beautiful and well chosen. "
⎯ Lisa Nolan

" I have viewed new version of '3:10AM' on both YouTube & Vimeo. I think the video flows much more fluidly, yet still retains its signature discordant theme, very much in keeping with many of today's disturbing political & social events. I know you initially penned the score to reflect a more personal traumatic experience...did you also always want it to resonate with the broader themes or was the change more recent as world events impacted on your own life to some extent? "
